In addition to the walkway, the welcome center is certified in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. According to the news source, it uses glass walls that reflect heat, as well as low-flow toilets in the bathroom.

"Over the last decade we've created a facility that's been recognized by many as one of the world's greenest gardens," executive director Richard Piacentini told the news outlet.
