Wood blinds a good way to incorporate minimalist trend

A look at some of the new homes in Richmond, Virginia, seems to indicate a growing trend toward downsizing when it comes to building houses. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that the event, called Richmond Homerama, features six moderately-sized abodes that, while smaller than in years past, are still appealing choices to prospective homebuyers.

According to the news source, the buildings average about 2,800 square feet, and the focus was kept on comfort, energy efficiency and making the most of the allotted space. Many of the houses include similar features such as offered ceilings, wainscoting and reclaimed wood floors, and designer Diana Ragsdale added that they made sure to not overdo accessories.

"We kept it simple with accessories, not going overboard," Ragsdale told the news provider. "We wanted to showcase the furniture and the house."

Homeowners looking to incorporate a similar minimalist approach to their house may want to consider installing wood blinds. In addition to providing a home with a natural,elegance look, industry analysts suggest that wood blinds can also blend seamlessly into the background and not dominate the decorating scheme of a room.
