A group of fashion designers has paired with a team of interior decorators to transform five apartments overlooking the Hudson River into a beautiful living space. The Wall Street Journal reports that the project was organized by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and is aimed at benefiting both HIV/AIDS organizations, as well as breast cancer research.

Among those involved in designing the apartments, which open to the public on September 21, was fashion designer Elie Tahari. He was tasked with turning a bedroom study into a bachelor pad, and used guidelines similar to those he uses when designing clothes. He decided to incorporate some mid-century furniture, as well as adding parts of his art collection.

"The clothes should be quieter than the woman," Tahari told the news source, "The house should not take away from the people who live there."

Homeowners looking for a fashionable update to their abode may want to consider hanging soft sheer shades from the windows. Along with being an elegant and understated decorative choice, soft sheer shades can filter sunlight and add a soft, warming glow to any room.
