According to the Calgary Herald, a kitchen nook, a small area designed to house a desk or workspace, is growing in popularity, and may be a great place for youngsters to do their homework. This way, adults can be available to answer work-related questions and can ensure that all of the assignments are done on time.

"We often hear parents say, 'kids come home from school and they are running around and we need to get them to do their homework,'" designer Greg Graham told the news provider.

Those who are interested in creating a kitchen nook in which children can study may want to consider hanging vertical blinds as a way to separate the two spaces - the blinds can stay open when children are doing their homework and then be closed when the area is used for recreation.

Vertical blinds are an effective way to control the light and privacy of an area. They are optimal for living rooms and decks that sometimes need to be divided from the rest of the house.
