Brighten a bedroom with roller shades

The Sacramento Bee reports that homeowners often neglect the design of a bedroom when considering the layout and comfort of a home, even though this is the space that can serve as a refreshing and private space after a long day.

"The bedroom tends to be forgotten - you spend all your money elsewhere in the house," Michael Payne, an interior designer, told the news source.

Before installing the decorations and additions needed for the area, however, it's also important to consider who will be living there - the needs of a retired couple can be very different from a family with young children.

Another designer, Jennifer Fagalde, suggests that older homes require more lighting, especially in the bedroom. "They're too dark. Lighting enhances your space and shows off the investment you put into it. You spend money on paint and flooring, you want to be able to see it," she informed the news provider.

Roller shades can be a practical window treatment for any bedroom that is in need of more light. Since they neatly roll to the top of the window when opened, the maximum amount of light is allowed in the home, so that all the other renovations can be appreciated. At night, they can also guarantee privacy by completely covering the window.
