While sometimes homebuyers find the perfect home in terms of location and size, the house may also be in need of significant renovation to make it as appealing as they originally dreamed it to be. According to The Ridgewood News, industry expert Victoria Stepanov recently opened a business to aid new homeowners in this arduous quest.

The news source reports that Stepanov has 15 years of experience in interior design, and provides advice on methods that may make updating an interior easier.

"I help people select and procure finish materials, furniture and window treatments. I give detailed drawings to the contractors, which eliminates a lion's share of confusion typical for a construction project," Stepanov told the news provider.

Those looking to add some flair to their home while giving it a face-lift may want to consider incorporating valances on the windows. HGTV.com reports that a floral print valance, for instance can be a colorful and elegant addition to a room. Valances can also be used to complement the addition of other window treatment such as blinds, or shutters.
