Design student offers tips to make most of small spaceAug 6 2010 ![]() Design student offers tips to make most of small space According to the news source, interior design student Kathlene McGuinness is especially adept at decorating attractive rooms - she has lived in nearly 10 apartments since leaving home. McGuinness recommends dialing down the urge to go overboard with unique knick-knacks. "Some people have collections . . . but 100 snow globes make you look a little weird," she told the news provider. "Two snow globes make you look quirky and fun. So its all about just editing it down and keeping it simple." Lighting is key as well, McGuinness said, and while a desk lamp can provide soft illumination for studying, natural lighting can sometimes be just as appealing. Those who are looking to incorporate some natural light into their room should consider hanging faux wood blinds from their windows, as they provide an easy way to control the amount of light that enters the room.
