Cellular shades could lessen noise problems

Residents in Ferndale, California, have had enough of the noise from the town's downtown clubs, as residents have began a petition drive to limit the sound levels. The Daily Tribune reports that the petition is aiming to lower allowable decibel levels, ban outdoor speakers and measure sounds for violations.

"The noise issue can be addressed if a (bar) owner cares enough. They can address the bass issue and make sure the sounds are not so loud they can be heard outside their building," petitioner Sherry Wells told the news source.

While some residents have reported trouble sleeping, town officials have only issued 11 noise violations in the past year.

Other people who are dealing with sound disrupting sleep can hang celluar shades in an effort to block the noise from entering the home.

Experts say that the design of cellular shades are especially beneficial to those who live on heavily trafficked streets. Along with providing a quiet, restful living space, they also offer several other benefits.

"They insulate, they increase the visual element of the home, and they help absorb outside noise for a more peaceful home or work environment." says Chris Stanley of Blinds Chalet.
