New York residents Shlomo and Lilian Bakhash used to enjoy vacationing in a small 750-square-foot co-op that amounted to little more than a hotel room. However, the New York Times reported that, three years ago, the family and their then-17-year-old daughter, expanded the abode into a lavish, two-bedroom apartment.

Lilian Bakhash, an interior design student, wanted to make the inside of their new home away from home full of as much natural light as possible. She did this by installing as many windows as possible and making use of bright colored walls and furnishings.

"I started drawing the sun and radiating light," she told the news source. "I wanted to keep a '50s look, but wide and big indoors."

Those who wish to mimic the natural lighting in the Backhash's apartment can do so by installing motorized blinds, which can be adjusted to allow different amounts of light into a room. Not only can motorized blinds offer homeowners with an option to add or remove light from a room, but since they can be controlled from far away, their convenience is also a benefit.
