Realtors in Steamboat Springs, Colorado are trying to find a more efficient way to list the sustainable aspects of the homes they're selling, the Steamboat Pilot & Today reports. According to Prudential Steamboat Realtor, Angela Ashby, the company is working to provide an easy way to quickly determine how environmentally friendly a house is.

"This is a big step, and I'm so proud that this was well received by the MLS committee and the MLS board and that we can now see the fruits of our labor," Ashby told the news source.

The system includes a list of abbreviations and a glossary that can be helpful to prospective buyers and sellers. The final goal is to someday allow for public searches of homes with green attributes.

Those looking to go green in their design should consider hanging woven bamboo shades. This sustainable window treatment provides a long list of benefits and can add an exotic element to any room. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing but woven bamboo shades are typically less expensive than other wood products, so those looking to go green on a budget do not have to suffer.
