Cannot Lower New Wood & Faux Wood Blinds

Q:
I just installed my new wood or faux wood blinds and cannot get them to lower. What do I do?
A:
When new blinds are shipped from the factory, they are raised tightly for shipping. Occasionally, the cord lock mechanism will get jammed and simply needs to be released. Follow these easy steps to release the window blinds.

Step
1
With either the help of someone or with one hand, grab the bottom rail of the blinds and push the them upward against the headrail at the top of the blinds.

Step
2
With your other hand grab the lift cord and pull it on an angle. The blinds should release. If you continue to have problems releasing the mechanism you can release it with a screw driver. Simply insert the screw driver into the cord lock mechanism. This is where the lift cord enters the headrail. While holding the lift cord with one hand, insert the screwdriver into the cord lock and push the barrel that is sitting on the lift cord upwards away from the cords.

Step
3
Lower the window blinds by letting the lift cord slowly retract into the blind headrail.

Note: Once the window blinds have been lowered the first time this process will not need to be repeated each time the blinds need to be lowered. This problem only occurs occasionally upon packaging.
